Local Dog Walker's Dog is a Cover Star (Press Release)

Linda Ward, a professional dog walker and cat sitter running Boredom Busters Pet Care Services, celebrates the publication of a new book for dog owners. Linda's dog, Fred, is not only included within the book itself, but has the place of honour on the front cover.



"Fred was a rescue dog, unwanted by his first owners, and left with me as a 'foster mum'. He proved difficult to rehome, as he was very unsettled and anxious, and unable to trust humans. In 2006, after nine months of caring for him, and trying to solve some of his behaviour problems I adopted him. As part of his rehabilitation I investigated a system of massage called Tellington Touch, and was lucky enough to find myself in touch with Sarah Fisher, the UK's leading practitioner who has had a lot of success with rescue dogs.

"Sarah felt Fred could be helped and invited us to visit her at her premises near Bath on the day of the photo shoot for her new book. Sarah worked her magic, and because Fred was so well-behaved and charming after she had relaxed him, she continued with the photo shoot and chose Fred for the cover." Linda Ward, proprietor

The book is called '100 ways to Solve Your Dog's Problems' ISBN-13: 978-0715332078 and is published on 29th November, 2009.

Fred now accompanies Linda on all walks with new dogs to help her assess their temperament before matching them with a compatible walking group or bringing them into her home for boarding.

Dog Walking Article in Brentwood Gazette

In March the local paper sent a photographer to follow me for 20 minutes or so. I thought it was for an 'interesting jobs' type write up, as they'd had a milkman and neighbours who ran B&Bs but after the photographer had been I heard nothing else.

Since then I've been in the business section when I was entered for an award (okay, by me, I admit it!) talking about my rescue work, and in a free paper with an article about dog boarding, but nothing on the 'interesting' job.

Got a text from my mum this morning, they've put a photo on the business pages, along with a small article which was taken from a press release I sent out (also some time ago).

Perhaps they had a small space to fill this week? Nice to see it there anyway (wish they'd pop my telephone number in though!).

(Ab)Using the Local Media

When I got my domestic dog boarding licence in February, I was very proud to be the first dog walker in Brentwood to gain such a licence. Finally, a complete service for local dogs, a home from home with someone they know.

So excited was I that I sent a press release to a few local papers. Today a little piece, and a photo of myself, Fred, Scarlet and Max appeared.

I have since found out there are plenty of dog walkers in the local area who take in boarders. They're just doing it unlicenced, and therefore illegally and potentially uninsured.

I'm still proud of my licence.

Gorgeous Dog

My local paper want to do a story on my 'interesting' job, so they sent a (rather gorgeous) photographer round to take some photos of me with some of 'my' dogs. He (Mr. Gorgeous) sent me a sneak preview, so, here is the wonderful Scarlet, showing off how fabulous she is.
